学校历史
密歇根理工大学历史上曾三次更名，以适应其不同阶段学校角色的变化 。1885年建校时原名密歇根矿业学校（Michigan Mining School），专门培养采矿工程师。随着学校的扩展，不久该名字便无法代表学校已成为一所“学院（College）”的事实，1897年学校更名为密歇根矿业学院（Michigan College of Mines）。1925年，随着学校开设的课程的多样化及扩大化，学校不再只是一所“矿业”学校，于是开始酝酿改名，并于1927年正式更名为密歇根矿业与技术学院（ichigan College of Mining and Technology）。1935年-1956年，格罗夫·C·迪尔曼（Grover C. Dillman）任校长期间，密歇根理工大学获得了长足的发展，建造了联合纪念大厦（Memorial Union Building）、开设了溜冰及高尔夫课程，1948年学生人数首次超过2000人。格罗夫的继任者J.罗伯特 ·范·佩尔特（J. Robert Van Pelt）重新引入许多PhD课程，并将学校的目标设定为一所研究型大学。罗伯特的任期的最后一年，学校 正式获得“大学（University）”的地位，同时定名为密歇根理工大学。
校园环境
密歇根理工大学主校区位于密歇根北部半岛的霍顿市，占地925英亩（约 3.74平方公里），远眺密歇根湖运河便映入眼帘。
密歇根理工大学校园整体布局十分紧凑，步行横穿整个校园用不到10分 钟，校园建筑都非常的高，这样可以缩小校园的空间。
密歇根理工大学拥有一座高尔夫球场，位于主校园以南2英里，并设有高 尔夫课程。该高尔夫课程始建于1902年，1945年，该课程因资金原因无以为 继，便以1美元的象征性价格卖给了密歇根理工大学。该球场后来经历了多 次扩建，包括新增的9个洞等。
申请点评
尽管密歇根理工大学开设的课程多达130多种，商科、经济、人文、艺术 、社科等等都有开设，但实质密歇根理工60%的学生都是理工科学生，理工 也是密歇根理工最为优秀的专业。
密歇根理工的环境工程与机械工程专业的招生是全美最多的学校，招生 人数至少是美国前十。它的电气工程是美国少数以“DSP第一” （即数字信号处理优先）为准设置课程的，这种课程设置，一般只有理工顶 尖的学校才有这么做。

10.Medical Lab sciences is a small department so everyone knows everyone and the faculty are willing to help you as much as they can and if they cant help you they will find someone who can!
